WCSU Technology Competencies

1. Brainstorm and draft SU K-12 Student/teacher expectations

By the end of 6th grade students will prove basic competency in the following:
All new employees of WCSU will demonstrate basic competency in the following:
All current employees of WCSU wiill demonstrate these basic competencies by the end of the 2009-2010 school year.
  • computer input (keyboard, mice, etc...) skills
  • Media literacy (internet safety, research skills, "Netiquette")
  • manipulate productivity tools (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software) at a basic level
  • formatting text, paragraphs, columns, colors, photos
Sometime during grades 7-12 students will prove competency in the following:
All present employees will prove competency in the following by the end of the 2011-2012 school year:
  • advance knowledge and skills in the basic competency areas to intermediate level
  • judgement
  • sharpened media literacy skills
  • abiility to identify what tool is the right one for the job at hand
  • knowledge of formatting different types of documents (newsletters, reports, technical documents, etc.)
  • design and aesthetics
  • ability to manipulate and utilize collaborative tools
  • demonstrate communication skills w/technology
